When we first moved to our new house, I met our next-door neighbour. She’s about 5 ft tall, and she’s light in complexion and beautiful; I think she was in her late thirties when we moved to the neighbourhood.

Her compound was filled with various kinds of plants, and I was amazed why a woman was so much in love with growing plants then. I asked her what motivated her, and she said she studied horticulture in school.

She grew different plants, from plants that produce fruits to flowering plants that beautify the house. She’s very good at what she does, and a lot of people came to patronize her then. She plants trees for fun and also to make money. She was a very dynamic woman.

Question 1:- What kind of plants do people like to grow in their homes?

Answer – Well, I think people grow plants that beautify their home, and planting trees means there would be more breeze. They also like to plant trees that produce a different kinds of fruits.

Question 2:- Do people in India like to gift plants?

Answer – I’m not sure about this, but I think they do. They give plants as a gift on various occasions. They appreciate nature a lot too.

Question 3:- Are there many people growing their own vegetables now?

Answer – Yes, definitely. Vegetables available in the market these days are fertilized ones that expose someone to different health issues, so people prefer to grow their vegetables at home.

Question 4:- Do you think letting kids learn how to plant is good?

Answer – I think so, and it broadens their knowledge, and kids tend to learn fast at a tender age.

Question 5:- What do you think of a farmer’s job?

Answer – Well, farmers are superb and hard-working, and although they are underrated, they are the ones that make food available. Everybody cannot be a farmer aside from the dedicated ones. It’s a very stressful job.

Question 6:- What are the differences between traditional and modern agriculture?

Answer – Well, while modern agriculture makes use of advanced technology to generate large quantity, traditional agriculture uses little manpower and produce less product. Also, in traditional agriculture, natural manures are used as fertilizer, while chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used in modern agriculture.
