Sample: Describe a Time When You Told Your Friend an Important Truth Speaking Cue Card

I usually do not prefer to lie, especially to my close ones, but sometimes situations put us in conditions where we have to lie sometimes. Sonali has been my best friend since childhood.

Luckily, we got admission to the same college as well. In college, our bond has become stronger than ever before. We help each other. We go to the movies and shopping together. She is an amiable person.

However, during 1 first year, she had a conflict with Neha regarding something. After that, she wanted me to stay away from Neha, but Neha was my brother’s friend, and once she needed help regarding one project.

My brother wanted me to guide her. I could not tell this Sonali because chances were there that she might get hurt. So, I decided to help Neha secretly. However, I could not hide it from Neha for long as I felt I had betrayed her and couldn’t sleep at night.

So the next morning, I told her the truth. Surprisingly, she took it well and told me she did not have any issue if I talked to Neha. It’s just that she was worried about me, as Neha has a different mindset than ours. I felt relaxed after talking with Sonali.

Follow-Ups: Describe a Time When You Told Your Friend an Important Truth Speaking Cue Card

Question 1: Do you think we should tell the truth at all times?

Answer:- For most situations, I will say yes, we should say it. However, sometimes telling the truth means deteriorating someone’s health. For instance, if someone underwent a heart attack recently and there might be chances that the truth could increase the stress level of that person, then I would go for hiding the truth.

Question 2: How do you know when others are telling the truth?

Answer:- I think body language tells everything. We can make out from one’s eyes. People who lie don’t prefer to make direct eye contact. Moreover, if we ask for any detail again, they might say something different from what they said.

Question 3: Do you think winning the game or following the rules is important?

Answer:- Indubitably, I will say following the rules is essential. If one wins a game unethically, then it’s called cheating. That win can not give happiness because, deep down, the winner knows that he /she broke the rule to win.

Question 4: Sometimes, people should tell lies. Do you agree?

Answer:- Yes, as I already mentioned, in certain situations, it’s better to lie in life. Lord Krishna also mentioned in Geeta that a lie is spoken to save someone from getting hurt or, for some mindful reason, it’s not a lie.
