– Why was this incident memorable to you?

When I joined a new company as a manager 2 years back, one of my team lead apologized for the error made by this team member in daily operation activity. The above incident is memorable because we worked for more than 2 days, day and night, to fix that issue. To explain more about the issue, it’s really a big miss from my team.

I have arranged a quick meeting with the team lead and team member to the understood whole incident and did a quick brainstorming session and RCSA analysis. Then I quickly communicate the incident to my VP and our client through call and sent out a detailed email with proper supporting evidence to explain that the error happen due to a system issue and not due to operational error and convinces the client and removed the error and fine which was marked under my team.

After that incident, I had a small team meeting with my whole team to discuss the issue and how we overcame the incident. I have also informed my entire team member about taking it as a lesson and not repeating it.

Finally, I got a star of the quarter award for handling the issue exceptionally and for avoiding the company’s financial and reputational loss. I have also briefly explained the incident to all other operational teams in the town hall.
