Many Students Decide to Further Their Studies Abroad Writing Task 2

Many students decide to further their studies abroad. What are the benefits and drawbacks of studying abroad? What is your view on this? What do you prefer? Give reasons for your answer.

Education is a sensitive issue and undeniably the first step a student takes to build his future. Several scholars prefer to pursue their studies overseas, while others want to further their course in their native countries. Undoubtedly, choosing a foreign country to complete their research has its advantages and disadvantages. I strongly believe that the advantages are far more than the disadvantages.

Students who support overseas education hold sturdy arguments in their favour. To illustrate, it offers a wide multicultural society wherein a student could meet people from various ethnic backgrounds and cultures. This will help them in attaining a global mindset and understanding the new culture totally different from their own and grab the chance to know the new positive customs and traditions of the foreign country.

Furthermore, the academic benefits of learning in a foreign academy widen the chances of getting better job opportunities. For example, a student could choose from a broad network of companies, business partners and elite job offers. Such an environment of advanced technology and graduate employability will dramatically contribute to the growth and development of the country.

On the contrary, people who advocate the disadvantages of having foreign degrees possess some compelling reasons. For instance, some of the students studying abroad usually suffer from depression being thousands of miles away from their families. This leads to homesickness, and in many cases, students fail to cope with the culture and the custom of the new country, resulting in travelling back to their native land.

To recapitulate, a substantial number of pupils hold different interpretations on the same issue- whether learners should travel abroad for higher education or not. It seems to me that studying abroad has some negative sides, but it holds more obvious benefits, such as it enriches one with a plethora of career and cultural aspects of the first-world lifestyle. Thus, studying overseas is more advantageous.
