Question 1:- Where is your hometown?

My hometown is in the northern part of the Ashanti region of Ghana. It’s a small village among many in that suburb.

I visit my hometown twice monthly, excluding when there’s a function like funerals and political rallies.

Question 3:- How many people live in your hometown?

There are about 700 people since it’s a small village. Most Indigenous travel to urban cities in search of greener pastures, so presently, older adults comprise the most significant percentage of the total population.

Question 4:- What is your hometown famous for?

My hometown is famous for the Gathering of Priests festival, where priests from across the country come together to dance and perform magical acts. This resulted in trooping in various tribes to witness these activities.

Question 5:- What’s the oldest part of your hometown?

The oldest part of my hometown is the chief’s palace, built about 100 years ago, according to my grandmother. It’s made of red clay and roofed with palm fronds, and the entrance has an elephant tusk.

Question 6:- Who was your favourite teacher in high school?

My favourite teacher in high school was my literature tutor, Mr Akwasi Asempa Okyere. I liked him because he also made sure we expressed ourselves in class and corrected us where necessary. I grew fond of him because his doors were always open to his students.

Question 7:- Do you still remember what happened on your first day of high school?

Yes, I do. I remember the seniors bullying us on arrival because we reported late. They made me carry my luggage while kneeling. It was a bitter experience and a day I will never forget.

Sometimes, most of them have travelled outside the country, and we lose contact with the few around us; we usually hang out and discuss life after school.
