Some People Think That Cooking Is an Important Skill for Young People to Learn

Some people think that cooking is an important skill for young people to learn. Others believe that it is better for people to learn how to cook after they become adults. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

It has often been argued that culinary skills should be learned during the adolescence period rather than adulthood. This essay will discuss both views and take a stance.

On the one hand, most people believe that it is necessary for people to learn how to cook while they are young. This is because they grow up to become independent adults. When young people develop culinary skills early in life, they become less dependent on their parents and more responsible. For instance, they will learn how to plan meals early in life and will be able to do it efficiently when they finally become adults. Also, they will be well informed about healthy food choices and will be able to manage their health independently. This instills a sense of responsibility in them at a young age.

On the other hand, people are only able to learn and follow their food preferences when they are adults. When people learn how to cook in adulthood, they are able to make decisions based on their food preferences, style, and taste. This is because they have more control over their life and food choices as adults. For example, if they have decided to become vegetarians, they will only learn about vegetarian recipes which are useful to their lifestyle. In this case, all the time and efforts used to learn about other recipes in their teenage period will be a waste as they will not apply this knowledge in their adult lives.

In my opinion, I believe that it is more beneficial for people to learn how to cook after they become adults. This will allow them to devote their time as teenagers to learning more relevant skills such as information technology (IT) and in extracurricular activities.

In conclusion, when young people acquire cooking skills, they become more independent and responsible adults. However, this decision might not be beneficial because people choose their food preferences and make lifestyle choices in adulthood. Personally, I think people should learn how to cook when they are adults so that they can devote their teenage time to acquiring more relevant and necessary skills.
