Some People Think that Enjoying the Present Is More Important than Planning (2) (1)

Some people think that enjoying the present is more important than planning for the future for both countries and individuals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is irrefutable that the use of social media has become predominant in today’s life. As a result, a group of individuals have the opinion that its use is substituting direct conversations individuals have among themselves in the community. From my perspective, the positive impact surpasses the negatives.

To commence with, the use of phones and laptops in chatting with friends and loved ones are gradually taking away direct conversations because of how convenient it is. Admittedly, individuals can sit in the comfort of their homes to talk to friends on their phones without necessarily having to move out in order to accomplish this. Furthermore, it saves a lot of time. In previous times, before one interacted with loved ones, they needed to cover some distance or even board a vehicle in order to reach their house, but now it is not so. For example, most individuals worldwide just stay in the comfort of their homes to communicate with their loved ones through Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram without leaving to meet them in person.

Following this, there are myriad drawbacks associated with these developments. Firstly, people have high chances of developing various sicknesses such as depression, hypertension and Obesity. In fact, in previous time social groups needed to walk for some distance before getting to their destinations of their friends and this helped in preventing many conditions because as people engaged themselves in such activities, they got the opportunity to exercise and also experience the nice scenery of the environment which had a positive effect on their mood. Secondly, lots of people become obese as a result of staying most of the time indoors chatting or watching videos on YouTube without engaging in any active workout. For example, there are a large group of people suffering from various health conditions due to this current advancement.

In conclusion, although there are a lot of cons associated with people chatting on phones and avoiding interacting with friends directly, the pros outshine the disadvantages. In spite of that, I believe people should try to make time to engage in physical communication with friends more often.
