Some people think that in this today’s world, getting old is entirely bad. However, other people believe that the lives of older people are much better now than they were in the past. Discuss both points of view and express your own opinion?
It is often argued that old age is bad in itself. On the contrary, others think that geriatric people’s lives are much better nowadays than in the past. In my perspective, now oldsters have more advantages such as good medical treatment, increased pensions and to name but a few.
First off, those who consider that old age is bad because of physiological and psychological problems. Oldsters become victims of many diseases, namely obesity, hypertension, asthma and cardiovascular ailments. They do not care properly. Besides, they are considered a burden on the family members due to their inability to do household work. So, people look at it with aversion. Furthermore, aged people are losing their respect due to the modern ideas of the new generation. They are not listened to by others, and their opinion is high devalued. So people remain negative about their old age.
On the contrary, currently, it is seen that the lifestyle of aged people has ameliorated. They are enjoying modern facilities and at such an age, getting a pension is another lucrative offer for them. So, they don’t need to rely on others for the fulfilment of their basic needs. Moreover, they get advanced medical treatment with the help of cutting-edge technology. Therefore, they can live longer. Thus, their life is better than their earlier times. To exemplify it, now senior citizens are given preference in getting themselves cured in public hospitals. They are getting rid of their diseases, and with the help of counselling and medicines, they are leading a prosperous life.
To conclude, thus people have ambivalent views. Some consider that old age is bad because of the problems that it brings for them. While on the other hand, it is improving the living conditions of oldsters by enhancing their life span with the help of advanced facilities.
