Some People Think that It Is Better to Educate Boys and Girls in Separate Schools (3)

Some people think that it is better to educate boys and girls in separate schools. Others, however, believe that boys and girls benefit more from attending mixed schools. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

There have been several discussions ongoing about educating boys and girls in a separate school, also known as a single-s@x school, while others believe that boys and girls benefit more when they attend the same school called mixed schools. This essay will examine valid arguments from both sides.

To begin, on the one hand, mixed school enhances the interpersonal relationship between both genders and this is simply running from having assemblies down to receiving lectures in the classrooms, they sit together, play together and learn together, this enhances a smooth relationship between both genders. For instance, in a home in Nigeria, the parents taught their girl kids that if they moved close or touched a boy, they would become pregnant. Still, in a situation whereby the children attend mixed schools, they will be enlightened and understand they won’t become pregnant by just sitting or touching boys, thereby eradicating false teachings.

However, on the other hand, there’s no gender discrimination in singles s@x schools, unlike mixed schools, all school work will be done by them. For instance, some works have been noted to be for some particular genders, such as sweeping for the female gender while cutting is for the male gender. This won’t be the case in a single s@x school because all work will be done by them irrespective of their gender. In addition, there would be freedom of teaching. For instance, teaching some particular topics, such as the reproductive system and puberty stage, will be taught freely without distractions or funny sneers from the other gender. Finally, the learning environment would have fewer distractions from the opposite s@x. For instance, teaching might be going on in class while two opposite gender might be passing love letters and signals around. Such would not be the case in a single school.

In conclusion, boys and girls benefit more from attending the same s@x school rather than being mixed up in a school.
