Some Say That Due to Heavy Traffic Government Needs to Build More Roads in Metropolitan Cities

Some say that due to heavy traffic government needs to build more roads in metropolitan cities. While others argue that this is not the right solution. To what extend do you agree or disagree?

It is argued by some people that the gridlock caused by the vehicles in the urban cities of a nation could only be controlled by constructing additional road networking but others claimed that is not the best solution. However, I disagree with the opinion of building more ways base on the reasons below.

In the first place, creating additional routes as a solution to heavy traffic will result in much loss of properties and hardship to the masses. The best option is to introduce some policies that will regulate the movement of the cars. For instance, metropolitans used to be congested with buildings, a case of Lagos city here in my country. An attempt to create more roads is an attempt to collapse several infrastructures in the urban area. The result of this in return will be a complete loss of properties and hardship upon the people.

Furthermore. The best that the authority can do is to extend the usual ways in the city, this would give room for expansion of the roads because going for construction of new ways will cause the administration a huge amount of money that is supposed to be spent on another resourceful thing. For example, injecting more funds into the education and economic sectors will do more good to the progress of the country.

In conclusion, building more roads in the major cities of the nation will cause huge loss in term of properties’ destruction which tend to lead to hardship on the citizens at the same time, the financial implication of creating new ways is an extra burden on the government.
