The Graph Shows the Average Annual Expenditure on Cell Phones and Residential Phone Services (1)

The graph shows the average annual expenditure on cell phones and residential phone services. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart below illustrates the annual expenditure on the cell phone and residential phone services in the past decade, from 2001 to 2010. It can be stated that the communication sector has experienced major changes from the situation that prevailed in 2001 to the situation in 2010.

In 2001 people majorly preferred residential phone services (700). However, over the years, the service has witnessed a major downfall. The trend has been consistent when compared year on year basis.

The demand for cell phone services has been opposite to that for the residential phone. This service has emerged at a rapid rate since 2001. From 200 in 2001 to above 700 in 2010. From 2002 to 2003, the service had a minuscule change. On a macro level, the trend has been constant with an upward bias.

In 2006, the expenditure on cell and residential phones were the same, around 550.

To sum up, the reverse in the spending patterns can be justified due to the evolution of technology and better convenience.
