Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the most striking change was seen in the UK, where coffee and banana sales increased sharply. Bananas’ popularity decreased in Switzerland, Belgium, and Sweden.
At a fleeting glance, in the UK, the coffee sale was 1.5 million euros in 1999, which increased by an evident amount of 20 million euro in 2004. Switzerland bought coffee at a high amount of 3 million euros in 1999, and the amount doubled in 2004. On the other side, Denmark, Belgium, and Sweden showed a very small increase in the amounts, which were 1.8, 1 and 0.8 million euros in 1999 and rose slightly in 2004, reaching 2, 1.7 and 1 million euros respectively.
Regarding bananas, the UK showed the most noticeable change in the figures, which rose significantly from 15 million euros to 47 million euros. Denmark bought fewer bananas (0.6 million euros) in 1999, and it went up to 4 million euros in 2004. In contrast, Switzerland, Belgium, and Sweden displayed a decreasing trend. Denmark decreased from 1 million euros to around half 1 million euros. Belgium fell by 0.8 million euros, and Sweden went down by just below one million euros.
