Sample Answer: Directors of Large Organisations Receive Much Higher Salaries than Ordinary Workers.
Social and economic inequality is a much-debated topic at the moment. Many have raised their voices against the difference in remuneration paid to different industries, while some argue that it is essential. I believe professionals like company directors who hold huge responsibilities should be paid well compared to ordinary workers who perform less intense jobs.
To begin with, people who opine that directors and other professionals of the institutions should be rewarded with a considerable salary package put forward various reasons. First and foremost, they highlight the qualifications that these officials possess. Achieving a higher position in the corporate world requires expertise and hard work. They might have spent considerable time and financial resources on their education. Secondly, holding a higher position in an organisation demands a lot from professionals. For example, in most organisations, the directors have to deal with subordinates who are unwilling to cooperate with the policies or with other higher officials who expect much more from them. These exert a considerable amount of work pressure on them. Considering all these, many hold the opinion that these officers should be paid high salaries.
On the other hand, most people believe it is not justifiable to pay huge remuneration to higher officers. They advocate for the dignity of labour and claim that everyone works hard and, therefore, is eligible for higher pay. Moreover, the luxurious life led by many professionals makes others feel that they do not deserve high pay and that the money should be distributed equally among ordinary workers, thereby increasing their salaries. In addition, the concentration of wealth in a few hands widens the gap between the rich and poor in society, which some have also pointed out. Thus, paying higher salaries to directors of organisations is considered unfair by some sections of society.
To conclude, owing to their qualifications and responsibilities, professionals are considered to be worthy of receiving huge salaries compared to ordinary workers. Some others oppose this argument, claiming that it only creates economic inequality in society. In my opinion, the former should be paid more than the other employees who have less intense ordinary jobs.
