More and more people are becoming seriously overweight. Some people have suggested that governments should increase the cost of unhealthy foods. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The issue at present is the issue of obesity. Generally, people espouse the notion that government should increase the price of unhealthy foods to overcome this dilemma. I opine that increasing the food price is not the best solution; instead, they motivate people to eat junk food. This essay will scrutinize both aspects of the difficulty in the ensuing paragraphs.
To begin with, proponents believe that government should increase the price of pre-packaged foods to discourage buyers from eating foods that create detrimental effects on their bodies, like soaring their body weight. Furthermore, If the price of unhealthy foods increases, the consumer could alter their eating habits to save money, and these things alter their thoughts towards unhealthy foods. They can make healthy food dishes by spending the same amount of money compared to unhealthy foods. For example, the UK government soared the text on unhealthy foods, so people could alter their habits, and they succeeded.
Secondly, I vehemently believe that exorbitant foods can not help to overcome this predicament. Still, there are manifold ways to help solve this hurdle by encouraging people to eat healthy foods and informing them about how healthy foods can ameliorate their health. Moreover, the government should implement new laws for those who make unhealthy foods and sell them in the market to save people’s health and solve the obesity problem. To exemplify, the obesity leaves of Indian people plummeted after the Indian government introduced new rules.
In conclusion, considering these points, from a personal perspective without a shadow of a double, I am inclined to believe that increasing the price of unhealthy foods is not the perfect solution whereas this can be done by introducing a new law.
