When New Towns are planned, It is important to build more public parks or sports facilities than shopping centres for people to spend their free time. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It has been argued that green spaces or recreational amenities are essential while planning new towns or suburban areas rather than building shopping premises for the masses to utilise their leisure time. I thoroughly agree with the statement for the harmonious development of the locals as well as to mitigate environmental hazards.

To commence with, the availability of leisure parks play a pivotal role in the holistic development of people. To elaborate, masses work around the clock, and they find it hard to do a workout or play and sports. Thus, green spaces can allure them and have an influential impression on them. Individuals reluctantly feel compelled to visit those places. In this way, they can develop themselves as a balanced personality. For instance, they can do some exercises such as yoga, meditation as well as playing cricket hockey and to name but a few. For social get together, these places keep the prominent place. Individuals will be physically as well as mentally agile and alert, respectively. On the other hand, building shopping complexes will enhance congestion. Although it will be easy for people to do shopping, they will do it at the cost of their health because there will be no place for their recreational facilities.

Furthermore, to improve environmental problems, afforestation plays a part and parcel role. Many times it has been observed that tall premises such as shopping malls occupy a large space. Trees have been cut down to make it more spacious. Heavy traffic and emission of toxic gases from the vehicles make the place more polluted. Resultantly, shopping centres do not improve the quality of life; instead, these deteriorate the atmosphere, and people start to migrate to other places which are quiet and spic and span. That’s why building public parks are more alluring for the people than shopping malls. At such places, people will feel cheerful and make these places green. They will develop a bond with nature. This instinct of environmentalism can bring pride to its residents, and consequently, other builders will also do the same, and the place will be congenial for the multitude to live in.

To conclude, thus, in consideration of the above analysis, it is ostensible that green spaces are an integral part of the budding towns. This will make people healthy and to protect the environment, it is an ideal option to build these green areas than shopping centres.
