You have a friend who lives in a city abroad. You have decided that you would like to apply to do a course at one of the colleges in that city. Write to your friend explaining what you would like to do.
In your letter:
- tell him/her of your plans.
- tell him/her what type of work or studies you have been doing recently.
- and ask for help in contacting a college.
Dear Sarah,
I hope you’re well and your family is great. Sorry I haven’t written in a while. I’ve been quite busy with work as I was recently promoted, and my workload has increased. You know how it is over here; I can’t complain.
Last time we spoke, I mentioned that I was considering taking a summer course at Landmark University. I have just been granted summer leave, so I’ll use this opportunity to go ahead with that plan. I’m considering doing a short course related to human resources management, but I would appreciate your advice first. If you know anything about the course or any other course that you think is available and would be of interest to me, could you please send me a few details?
I know this is short notice, and lots of people will also be searching for courses this summer. If you know anyone at the university who could help me with applying for a course, that would be great.
If all goes as planned, I’ll see you over the summer.
