You Have Been Offered a Job, and We Are Asking You to Start Next Week

You have been offered a job, and we are asking you to start next week. You want the job very much but, because of a previous commitment, you want to delay the start for another two weeks. Write to the Manager, accepting the job, but explaining your situation and asking for a change to your start date.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you to express my gratitude for the job which has been offered to me to join on 26th September 2022. Unfortunately, I need your acceptance to start it on 5th October due to my work commitment to my previous job.

Let me inform you that I was selected as a senior marketing executive in your Jack & John company. I gladly accepted the offer as handsome remuneration, free transport and a yearly bonus were added to the contract. It has been informed I to join it on 18th September 2022.

Suffice it to say that I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. However, the date of joining made me depressed as I could not join it on the same date. My work commitments do not let me leave my previous job. Besides, no substitute for me can be arranged for my work. Therefore, I need to wait for someone to occupy my position. It has been informed that a person has been appointed, but he will be holding his position on 1st October 2022.

I want to request to alter the date to 5th October. It has been extremely vital for me to hand over the responsibilities and introduce the newly appointed worker to the nature of work. I was the first person who cleared this job interview in the first round. I hope you will value my dedication and integrity in my work.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours Faithfully,
